My wife & I got this for our 8-year-old daughter for Christmas. Its features are limited (e.g., no video playback on the camera itself), and the quality of the video is so-so (jerky at the high-resolution setting), but it does pretty much everything that my daughter wanted it for. It's certainly a good deal for the price considering some of the pieces of junk out there that will set you back as much or more. (Before I ran across this Mustek, I had been looking at something at Walmart that cost about the same but was little more than a glorified toy.) In sum, if your expectations aren't high, this little gadget will pleasantly surprise you.

And I still got enough place to see throught the lens. The camcorder get heavier specially the bottom, but it doesn't matter specially if you use the wide angle converter. You don't have to change your battery every time (I use The DM 50 stereo microphone what needs power).
Customer Review: Solid Battery, Moderately Long Time, Worth Getting.
I use this battery for my trip to LA, Vegas and Grand Canyon. It definitely could last you longer than a day if you are not shooting intensively for something like 2 hours. Since I use a HV30 with it. It usually lasts me a tape and half, which is about 90 minutes, with about 50 times on and off. One star off for not lasting two tapes, but solid enough for a trip in the field.

Customer Review: good camera over all for the price
I have had this little camera for a few weeks now. I haven't taken it underwater yet but that's because it's cold right now where I live. this camera loves bright light. the image becomes pixilated in low light settings. the interface is simple and easy to use and in the sunlight or bright indoor lights the video quality is great. For the price you really can't go wrong with this little guy as long as you don't need it for low light.

I know I took a chance in getting this camera, I was looking more at the price than the quality. The battery power is low, doesn't last too long so you may want to purchase another battery to switch out. The indoor video quality is poor in low light, improves with more light. The outdoor video quality is excellent, however, it is very difficult to see the viewfinder in sunlight due to the glare. A separate eye viewer would work better than the LCD screen. The still pictures look ok indoor or outdoor but I purchased this camera for the video and it came short of my expectations.

i have had this camera for about 3 weeks now and just love the convenience of carrying one device for both video and still pictures. its also lighter and smaller than my other devices. its very easy to use. picture quality is good in daylight or well lit area. it gets grainy in the dark and does not look great especially when viewed on an HD TV. audio is ok, zoom is basic. i usually just walk closer to my subject instead of zooming as i get better audio capture. still pictures are great and the flash works fine. battery life is good and i love the fact that i can charge it with a USB cable or one of many usb chargers i have for the cell phones. overall it is a good buy for the price.

i love this thing. the video looks great when filmed outside with a steady hand. i don't use the zoom because digital zoom always looks like crap in my opinion. for the price the video quality is freaking amazing but the mic leaves a lot to be desired. boy what i wouldn't give to have one of these when i was in high school or travelling the world in the navy. the h.264 is a great format btw which is easy to edit in premiere elements but you must have a fast computer. i wish i could buy a $600 version of this type of camera for the extra build quality that price would offer. bottom line, this camera is great for quick shots and the video looks nice on an hdtv.

Customer Review: Great camera HORRIBLE software and support
Purchased this camera for my wife at Christmas due to its affordable price and ease of use. Although the camera itself works like a charm, you do get what you pay for. The included software completely refuses to load on my wife's Win XP computer and technical support at Flip has been completely worthless, communicating only via email (no listed support line) and simply sends the same generic system requirements email each time. The technical forums on the web are littered with people having the same issue but still no response from Flip. If you have a computer running anything but Win XP SP2, you should be ok, otherwise prepare to own a useless video camera.

I've had this camera for a few months now and so far no problems. There have been many events captured in HD - recitals, ball games, birthdays, etc. I have been able to use cheap DVD's (available here at Amazon). It records in HD. Recorded media (8cm. DVD-R's) is encoded in AVCHD and can be played directly using a bluray player. -ep

I bought this to mount to my track going motorcycle. The season doesn't start for me until April so I'll have to wait until then to really see what this camera can do. I am pleased with the variety of mounting hardware that it comes with and relative ease of operation. I do recommend connecting it to a Windows PC when viewing the footage. I tried it with a Mac and the images were much darker. It also presented some trouble when I failed to eject it properly from the Mac. I had to connect it to the Windows PC in order to get the thing to delete footage. I did not troubleshoot this so I can't say what the issue was but it did work just fine when connected to a Windows PC. Your results may vary. I think it will do the job nicely. One thing to note is that the microphone is not very strong. It is protected from the elements and therefore nearly muted although I'm sure to get some wind and engine noise from the bike.

The resolution of this "camera" is so poor as to relagate it to the statis of a kid's toy. Granted, it's cheap, waterproof, and nearly immune to shock. Usable videos? Only a distant "sort of"....and that's IF you're sufficiently skilled to actually get it pointed at that which you wish to capture. No view finder = take a guess.
