I got this mini tripod direct from the retail sony style store. I was worried it would not support a Canon G10, but it does so perfectly. The ballhead locks in many angles without worry of movement or the tripod tipping over, except on its side. Taking vertical pics with the G10 is impossible without your hand to support the tripod standing up. The weight of the G10 is just too much when sideways on the tripod. Carrying pouch and cleaning cloth are an excellent bonus. Tripod feels sturdy and of good quality.

Sony continues to put out great products that last almost a lifetime. The travel tripod works well with our camera, is light and easy to travel with or stick in your purse. Worked out amazingly well for our holiday gatherings. My boyfriend didn't even know he needed this item and now he doesn't know how we lived w/ out it. If you are considering this lens, you should know four things about it to avoid disappointment: 1) It's large and heavy enough to change the balance of the camcorder -- it's the same weight as the WD-H43 Canon wide angle teleconverter, about which you read the same comments. 2) It will block the edges of the field when you zoom out. That is, some of the image will be black when you zoom out. Because of this, you will need to remove the teleconverter for near or large subjects. 3) Color fringes at high-contrast edges will be larger, and the TL-H43 reduces color saturation and shifts the color balance. If you see color fringes around objects such as branches and roofs without the teleconverter, they will be larger with it. 4) Use of a serious tripod is almost mandatory with the TL-H43. The HV20's image stabilization is clearly optimized for the standard lens, and the use of this teleconverter results in not just the normal amplification of image movement, but also a stuttering kind of image distortion, possibly related to the interframe compression used by high-definition camcorders. The HV20 needs a very stable platform to yield good results with the teleconverter. Despite these limitations, I've been reasonably satisfied with the TL-H43 and continue to use it for birds and distant subjects. Quite to my surprise and amazement, I was able to capture Jupiter's four Galilean moons with it -- not bad for eleven ounces of glass. But don't expect the TL-H43 to break the laws of physics and give you perfect images, either, or you will be disappointed.

What can be said about the very best value in film making gear that's not already been said? Canon's made the XH-A1 very easy to use for a novice like me and my producer's husband who IS an expert camera person. The quality is super and the camera can do so many things that high end cameras DO. The Mini-DV media is now becoming a bit dated since everyone seems to be making cameras that feed into chips. Perhaps thats why the unit was a bit cheaper but if you use new cartriges on every shoot the quality is great; we use only Premium Sony MINI DV's. They are inexpensive and even if used more than once don't seem to get degraded. Besides, my producer justs downloads them to the editing software immediately so nothing gets degraded on the hard drive anyway. The owners manual is huge and explains the numerous bells and whistles that all the big shots know how to use but right out of the box I was shooting great scenes. The controls are easy to use and the camera comes with all the cables needed to hook up a director's tv monitor. With the large battery we can shoot all day and have power to spare. The camera really does fit the professional and the consumer as well so both should be happy. Don't put off buying the best low-priced HD on the market. By the way, my old GL-2 has lots of accessories that fit the XH-A1 too like the pricey wide angle lens, the long life batteries and more. I originally started with the GL-2 and have just stayed with Canon ever since. There quality is fabulous; I've never had a problem, (YES...I'm knocking on wood).

My computer would not recognize the files as movie files, and it took about 5 calls to customer service to get a straight answer. I have to purchase a converter now. I'm so frustrated that they couldn't give us an answer sooner! At the time this camera was purchased, advertising was VERY misleading. They said it would work with either a pc or a mac. It does not work with a mac. I would like to throw this camera at panasonic's head. The birth of my children is on this camera!!!!! Argh!!!!! I HATE THIS STUPID CAMERA!!!!!

My wife & I got this for our 8-year-old daughter for Christmas. Its features are limited (e.g., no video playback on the camera itself), and the quality of the video is so-so (jerky at the high-resolution setting), but it does pretty much everything that my daughter wanted it for. It's certainly a good deal for the price considering some of the pieces of junk out there that will set you back as much or more. (Before I ran across this Mustek, I had been looking at something at Walmart that cost about the same but was little more than a glorified toy.) In sum, if your expectations aren't high, this little gadget will pleasantly surprise you.

I use this battery for my trip to LA, Vegas and Grand Canyon. It definitely could last you longer than a day if you are not shooting intensively for something like 2 hours. Since I use a HV30 with it. It usually lasts me a tape and half, which is about 90 minutes, with about 50 times on and off. One star off for not lasting two tapes, but solid enough for a trip in the field.

I have had this little camera for a few weeks now. I haven't taken it underwater yet but that's because it's cold right now where I live. this camera loves bright light. the image becomes pixilated in low light settings. the interface is simple and easy to use and in the sunlight or bright indoor lights the video quality is great. For the price you really can't go wrong with this little guy as long as you don't need it for low light.

I know I took a chance in getting this camera, I was looking more at the price than the quality. The battery power is low, doesn't last too long so you may want to purchase another battery to switch out. The indoor video quality is poor in low light, improves with more light. The outdoor video quality is excellent, however, it is very difficult to see the viewfinder in sunlight due to the glare. A separate eye viewer would work better than the LCD screen. The still pictures look ok indoor or outdoor but I purchased this camera for the video and it came short of my expectations.

i have had this camera for about 3 weeks now and just love the convenience of carrying one device for both video and still pictures. its also lighter and smaller than my other devices. its very easy to use. picture quality is good in daylight or well lit area. it gets grainy in the dark and does not look great especially when viewed on an HD TV. audio is ok, zoom is basic. i usually just walk closer to my subject instead of zooming as i get better audio capture. still pictures are great and the flash works fine. battery life is good and i love the fact that i can charge it with a USB cable or one of many usb chargers i have for the cell phones. overall it is a good buy for the price.

i love this thing. the video looks great when filmed outside with a steady hand. i don't use the zoom because digital zoom always looks like crap in my opinion. for the price the video quality is freaking amazing but the mic leaves a lot to be desired. boy what i wouldn't give to have one of these when i was in high school or travelling the world in the navy. the h.264 is a great format btw which is easy to edit in premiere elements but you must have a fast computer. i wish i could buy a $600 version of this type of camera for the extra build quality that price would offer. bottom line, this camera is great for quick shots and the video looks nice on an hdtv.

Customer Review: Great camera HORRIBLE software and support
Purchased this camera for my wife at Christmas due to its affordable price and ease of use. Although the camera itself works like a charm, you do get what you pay for. The included software completely refuses to load on my wife's Win XP computer and technical support at Flip has been completely worthless, communicating only via email (no listed support line) and simply sends the same generic system requirements email each time. The technical forums on the web are littered with people having the same issue but still no response from Flip. If you have a computer running anything but Win XP SP2, you should be ok, otherwise prepare to own a useless video camera.

I bought this to mount to my track going motorcycle. The season doesn't start for me until April so I'll have to wait until then to really see what this camera can do. I am pleased with the variety of mounting hardware that it comes with and relative ease of operation. I do recommend connecting it to a Windows PC when viewing the footage. I tried it with a Mac and the images were much darker. It also presented some trouble when I failed to eject it properly from the Mac. I had to connect it to the Windows PC in order to get the thing to delete footage. I did not troubleshoot this so I can't say what the issue was but it did work just fine when connected to a Windows PC. Your results may vary. I think it will do the job nicely. One thing to note is that the microphone is not very strong. It is protected from the elements and therefore nearly muted although I'm sure to get some wind and engine noise from the bike.

The resolution of this "camera" is so poor as to relagate it to the statis of a kid's toy. Granted, it's cheap, waterproof, and nearly immune to shock. Usable videos? Only a distant "sort of"....and that's IF you're sufficiently skilled to actually get it pointed at that which you wish to capture. No view finder = take a guess.
